Well, we didn't get it all the finish work done, but we did get our kitchen back! No painting got done today as I was on carpentry mini-apprenticeship all day. Yesterday, I was tasked with cutting all of the shims on the chop saw and helping get them installed. Today, we continued with the countertop and finished the job. We continued shimming and then cut out a space for the sink. Meanwhile, Todd was tasked with modifying our copper plumbing to include a water supply for the dishwasher. Then Todd and his dad went about installing the modification to the existing water supply. After the plumbing was in place, it was time to install the countertops permanently. First, we applied a casein-based adhesive to the seam then tightened the seam using miter bolts. Once the seam was tight, we screwed the countertops into the lower cabinets. Next, was the sink installation and plumbing hookup. We used a generous quantity of plumber's

putty and started adhering the sink to the countertop - clamping the sink underneath to the countertop finished the job. The dishwasher installation is not complete, we still have to attach the power cord...but we are so tired...and hungry. Unfortunately, our "vacation" is over so work will proceed a bit slower now. Fortunately, there really is only finish work and lots of painting to be done, so it won't be too painful before everything is done.
