I also got to celebrate my friend Eric's BDay (which was back on Nov. 10) with a lunch at Wagamama's. Here's a picture of Eric, me, and another dear friend. Can the Yalies guess who is hiding behind his napkin?
Our friend Hugh had a birthday on Nov. 15th, but we celebrated a month earlier with a trip to Las Vegas, which was a surprise for Hugh engineered by his amazing wife, Alett! The few pictures below are from two breakfasts we all shared, one as a large group at the buffet in the MGM Grand and one at Denny's! We had a really nice time in Vegas with the gang, highlighted by a group dinner at PF Chang's and an amazing Cirque du Soleil show, 'O'.
We are also excited to be in the late stages of buying a house! We've found a great place in Winchester, MA and we are still putting all of the pieces together, so there is not a whole lot to report or show yet! But in advance of our move, we need to finish up our apartment to rent to tenants! Luckily, Todd's dad and brother, Rich and Doug, have been very generous with their time in helping us get the place together. A recent project involved installing an outlet, vanity light, and medicine cabinet in our full bathroom. The pictures below are of Rich and Doug working inside the full bathroom while Todd continued finish work on the door frame to the second bedroom, just one of the many unfinished projects we are racing to get done before we move! There is also a pic of the finished product, including the new sink Todd installed and the ceramic tile floor Todd and his dad installed in July.
They have now turned their attention to baseboard molding and basement lighting / electrical work. In order to rent out our apartment to tenants, we have to separate out all of the electrical outlets in the common areas to the two apartments. Up until now, all of the common space electrical wiring has been plugged into our electrical system. So Todd and his cousin Andy have been working on getting independent lighting for the basement for each of the apartments, separating out the electrical supply to the washers and dryers, etc., etc.
In July, we were honored to witness the wedding of Mike, Todd's cousin on his mother's side, to Spring. We travelled down to Charlottesville, VA for the wedding and had a great time!! I was about 14 weeks pregnant at this point and I was definitely showing (I started showing at about week 11)...but since everyone was focused on the bride and groom, the fact that I seemed to have broadened in the waist was concealed. We were able to keep it just for us a little bit longer.
Speaking of showing, I am quite obvious now. Cupcake has been baking for 26 weeks (about 6 months) now. The first ultrasound was done at 12 weeks and the second one was done at 18 weeks and 3 days. He was moving around way too much during the 12 week ultrasound to get any good photos, and he was way too shy during the 18 week ultrasound to get decent shots. The shot we did get was a profile of his face and his foot hovering just above his face. He was curled up like that the entire time, only allowing us to see his "junk" right at the very end of our session confirming that Cupcake is a boy. The profile picture of me was taken at 24 weeks and 5 days.
We have many more projects to go on the current apartment. Todd and Andy are still working on electrical projects, Rich and Doug are still working on baseboard molding, we still have painting and staining and finish work to do in the bedrooms, touch-up painting to do everywhere, baseboard molding painting once it's all laid down, various small projects like changing door locks, fixing or eliminating the spray faucet in the kitchen, adding an exterior lock to the basement bulkhead door, painting the garbage cans with apartment numbers, packing, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, finding a tenant!!!
